Employee Travel Site (ETS) Update. The new and improved Employee Travel
Site
(ETS), which was launched last Monday, provides several enhanced travel tools.
However, there are a few questions regarding certain features of the new site.
To clarify, your credit card number can only be entered into your profile once
you have booked a trip, and it may take the system up to 48 hours to reflect
your credit card number in your profile. Also, if you are accessing ETS from
home, use Netscape and/or Internet Explorer. Please note that the Help Desk
does not support any versions of Netscape that are version 6 or higher. The
best way to access the ETS is via Internet Explorer, by entering
www.travel.aircanada.ca or www.voyage.aircanada.ca. Finally, employees/retirees
can only view the contingent passengers listed on any given flight, if the
flight is an Air Canada or Tango flight. We are currently working on correcting
this feature for Air Canada Jazz, ZIP and Air Georgian flights.

Air Canada has unveiled plans to launch another offshoot, this for the
business sector. The operation, dubbed Elite, will offer exclusive business
class service with a fleet ofAirbus A319's configured with only 40 seats rather
than the typical average of 124 seats in this type from 2003. Operations will
begin with just two or three aircraft serving domestic routes like YYZ-YVR,
although subject to the initial success of the venture, up to 10 aircraft could
be introduced by 2005 and international services launched. Elite will be the
fifth new subsiduary of Air Canada and, according to the CEO, unlikely to be
the last, with consideration also being given to an international airlines
aimed specically at the leisure market.

Apparently, an owner of an Aztec in Africa had an engine problem in
some rather remote location and was considering trying to take off and fly the
airplane on one engine to a maintenance base. The message he sent to
Piper's engineering department ended with the question, "How long will it
take to take off on one engine?"
This request for information made its rounds within engineering until it got
to the Aztec project engineer who replied, "Ask him if he wants that in
miles or months."
A Delta Air Lines jet was traversing Arizona on a clear day.

major tourist attraction in northern Arizona, it was formed when
a lump of
nickel and iron weighing 300,000 tons, 150 feet across, struck
the earth
at 40,000 miles an hour, scattering white-hot debris for miles
in every

Employee Travel Site now open for business. Our new Employee Travel Site is
now available for all travel privilege holders. The Speech Recognition
application has also been programmed to handle the changes made to the travel
program, however, there are a few minor issues that still need to be resolved.
Until further notice, do not use Speech to book travel on a C1/J10 priority. We
expect it to be working within the next few days. Meanwhile, use the Web or
contact the Employee Call Centre 1-800-413-1113 for assistance.
Netscape and the New Travel Site
It has come to our attention that there maybe some problems accessing the New
Employee / Retirees Travel web site, when using Netscape web browser. This
problem is being worked on by I B M Help staff, we have been advised.

. Need to know.
Employee Travel – things you should know. Effective December 16th, all active
and retired Air Canada and Air Canada Jazz employees are able to book their
travel needs on our new and improved Employee Travel Site (ETS). As in all
things new, there may be a few glitches in the system. As such, we are
currently fixing a problem with the link to the ETS through the Portal. In the
interim, please log on to the ETS using the web address:
www.travel.aircanada.ca. If you go to the site and run into browser problems
that interfere with the proper display of the Web page or you can’t print your
itinerary, call the IBM Help Desk at 514-422-4357 or 1-866-274-5444 and use the
code word –Employee Travel Site (ETS). The Desk is open 24-hours-a-day,
7-days-a-week. Also, if you’ve forgotten your Personal Information Number
(PIN), or need to create a new one, contact the Employee Call Centre at
800-414-1113. All other problems – such as questions on policies, procedures,
navigation, billing, profiles, etc – contact the Employee Travel team at
866-473-4732. If you haven’t received your Employee Guide yet, we apologize.
However, you can find a printable version under Help on the ETS.
(Note: Be patient, if you are in a dial up connection, when requesting a print
of a screen or the user manual. The manual is 43 pages long! - eds)
(Another note: On page 3 of the User manual 'Ticket', in error retirees have
been omitted, but have correctly been included on page 33 'Ticket Sample' -

. Should know.
In the past, when signing your passes, you were acknowledging the Terms and
Conditions of the Warsaw Convention and the Notice of Baggage Limitations. The
user manual has a copy of both at the end of the manual headed ' Mandatory
Please Read'. With ticketless travel, you acknowledge both these Terms &
Conditions when you list yourself for travel through the web site ETS.
For your information, we reprint these Terms and Conditions -
ARSAW CONVENTION
MANDATORY – PLEASE READ
It is mandatory that you read and accept the terms and conditions of travel
prior to each trip taken. It is
also your responsibility to ensure that all parties travelling under your
sponsorship (spouses, dependants,
and parents/partners) read and accept same.
NOTICE
If the passenger's journey involves an ultimate destination or stop in a
country other
than the country of departure the Warsaw Convention may be applicable and the
Convention governs and in most cases limits the liability of carriers for death
or personal
injury and in respect of loss of or damage to baggage. See also notices headed
"Advice
to International Passengers on Limitation of Liability" and "Notice of Baggage
Liability
Limitations".
This pass entitles the holder to carriage on a regularly scheduled flight of
the company
between the points specified and between the dates noted. If priority is "POS"
the
holder ranks as a revenue passenger in regard to allocation of space, otherwise
the
holder will be carried only when space is available. This pass is not
transferable: is to be
used only by the designated holder: is revocable at any time at the option of
the
company: is void if altered or presented by other than the holder. It must be
signed by
the holder and presented at point of embarkation at least twenty minutes before
flight is
scheduled to start. If stopover privilege is desired, application must be made
at point of
embarkation.
Carriage hereunder and other services performed pursuant thereto are subject to
the
applicable tariffs, rules and regulations of the company which may be inspected
at any
of the company's offices and at the airports from which it operates regular
services.
As used herein "Applicable tariffs" means those rules tariffs that would be
applied if the
pass holder was a full revenue passenger.
As used herein "Warsaw Convention" means the Convention for the Unification of
Certain Rules relating to International Carriage by Air signed at Warsaw,
October 12,
1929, or that Convention as amended by The Hague Protocol, 1955, whichever may
be
applicable to carriage hereunder.
Air Canada, when issuing this pass for carriage over lines of another air
carrier, does so
only as its agent.
ETS - Employee Guide
E TO INTERNATIONAL PASSENGERS
ON LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
MANDATORY – PLEASE READ
It is mandatory that you read and accept the terms and conditions of travel
prior to each trip taken. It is
also your responsibility to ensure that all parties travelling under your
sponsorship (spouses, dependants,
and parents/partners) read and accept same.
Passengers on a journey involving an ultimate destination or a stop in a
country other
than the country of origin are advised that the provisions of a treaty known as
the
Warsaw Convention may be applicable to the entire journey, including any
portion
entirely within the country of origin or destination.
For such passengers on a journey to, from, or with an agreed stopping place in
the
United States of America, the Convention and special contracts of carriage
embodied in
applicable tariffs provide that the liability of certain carriers, parties to
such special
contracts, for death of or personal injury to passengers is limited in most
cases to
proven damages not to exceed U.S. $75,000 per passenger, and that this
liability up to
such limit shall not depend on negligence on the part of the carrier.
For such passengers travelling by a carrier not a party to such special
contracts or on a
journey not to, from, or having an agreed stopping place in the United States
of
America, liability of the carrier for death or personal injury to passengers is
limited in
most cases to approximately U.S. $10,000 or U.S. $20,000.
The names of carriers, parties to such special contracts, are available at all
ticket offices
of such carriers and may be examined on request.
Additional protection can usually be obtained by purchasing insurance from a
private
company. Such insurance is not affected by any limitation of the carrier's
liability under
the Warsaw Convention or such special contracts of carriage.
For further information please consult your airline or insurance company
representative.
NOTE: The limit of liability of U.S. $75,000 above is inclusive of legal fees
and costs
except that in case of a claim brought in a state where provision is made for
separate
award of legal fees and costs, the limit shall be the sum of U.S. $58,000
exclusive of
legal fees and costs.
Air Canada, and Jazz Air Inc. (d.b.a. Air Canada Jazz) have, in their
international tariffs,
since October of 1998, agreed not to invoke the limits of liability as stated
in Section
22(1) of the Warsaw Convention as amended from time to time.
NOTICE OF BAGGAGE LIABILITY LIMITATIONS
MANDATORY – PLEASE READ
It is mandatory that you read and accept the terms and conditions of travel
prior to each trip taken. It is
also your responsibility to ensure that all parties travelling under your
sponsorship (spouses, dependants,
and parents/partners) read and accept same.
Liability for loss, delay or damage to baggage is limited as follows unless a
higher value
is declared in advance and additional charges are paid:
(1) for travel wholly between points in Canada - to CA $1500 or CA $250 if on a
flight
operated by ZIP Air Inc.;
(2) for most international travel (including domestic portions of international
journeys) to
approximately US $9.07 per pound (US $20.00 per kilo) for checked baggage and
US $400 per passenger for unchecked baggage.
Special rules may apply to valuables and to fragile or perishable articles.
Unless otherwise stated on the baggage check, where transportation originates
or
terminates in the United States, the weight of each piece of baggage shall be
deemed
to be 70 pounds (32 kilos). This presumption limits carriers' liability to no
more than US
$640 per piece of checked baggage. Consult your carrier for further
information.

. News from the districts.
District News - Niagara Peninsula Coffee Group Submitted by Jim Morgan,
Chairman
Seasons Greetings from the Niagara Peninsula Coffee Group. At our last meeting
of the year we had 32 attendees, including District Director Glen Cawker and
Assistant Director Irv Christjanson along with their wives. Glen clarified a
great many points concerning the new Travel Programme and stressed that the aim
is to have employees, to the greatest extent possible, make use of the travel
web site for all their travel requirements. For non-computer equipped members
we now have help available through Ed Jiskoot, who will assist our local
members. Glen also outlined the Retiree Assistance Programme, and explained how
help is available through our local representative who will provide direction
and assistance in contacting the various services that can help with personal
problems.
Gord Dalziel gave an update on the Pionairs Mailing List . Out of 9,500 Pionair
members , 2,800 had registered at that time, and he is still very busy with new
registrations coming in.
We have encouraged members to share their work experiences at our monthly
meetings, and this month Don Rennick who joined TCA in 1960 gave a very
interesting talk, it was refreshing to hear how much he enjoyed working for the
company at that time, a sentiment which was shared with the members. In those
days TCA shared a hangar with the Avro Company at Malton Airport. Last month
Bill Penston, who joined TCA in 1941 really took us back to the early days of
the company and showed several photos, including one where crew and passengers
were required to wear oxygen masks. We've come a long way since then.
Most of our members stayed for lunch and it was interesting to see the movement
of the ships passing through the Welland Canal which will be closing shortly at
the end of the shipping season.
Winners of the raffle prizes were Art Jasinski, Colin Bailey, Alastair
Robertson and June Dalziel. Margaret Morgan was the winner of the dinner for
two at Frado's Restaurant where we hold our monthly meetings.
Important Reminder - Effective in January 2003, our meeting day will change to
the second Tuesday of the month.
Best Wishes for a Healthy and Happy New Year.

Gordon Dalziel sent us these -
Taxiing down the tarmac, the DC10 abruptly stopped, turned around and
returned to the gate. After an hour-long wait, it finally took off. A
concerned passenger asked the flight attendant,
"What was the problem?" "The pilot was bothered by a noise he heard in
the engine," explained the flight attendant," and it took us a while to
find a new pilot."
"Flight 2341, for noise abatement turn right 45 degrees."
"But Center, we are at 35,000 feet. How much noise can we make up
here?"
"Sir, have you ever heard the noise a 747 makes when it hits a 727?"

(1) for travel wholly between points in Canada - to CA $1500 or CA $250 if on a
flight
operated by ZIP Air Inc.;

EMPLOYEE TRAVEL FLASH
Helping you get set for the new and improved Employee Travel Site
Sector Pricing and Billing
As of Dec.16, sector pricing and billing comes into effect. This means that you
will be billed on a per sector basis for all travel starting on or after this
date. Sector pricing, using nine levels of service charges based on mileage,
will replace the current three zone concept.* The eligible pass holder will
now pay for each flight boarded - the longer the flight, the higher the charge.
*Sector prices start at $5.50. Maximum sector price is $25.50. The Employee
Travel Site will quote the applicable sector prices when you list for your
flights. Details of the nine levels are outlined in the Streamlining Employee
Travel document or at your local Employee Travel and Recognition, and Personnel
offices.
Sector Pricing and its advantages
· Sector pricing means that each flight segment travelled is assessed a
service charge. For example, if you travel one way, you will only pay for the
flight sector used and not for a round trip as you would today.
· The new and improved Employee Travel Site will store the service charge
for each flight segment and will total your trip charges once your trip is
complete (see “Definition of a trip” text below).
· Sector pricing makes changing travel plans easier, as you will not
require an extra ticket for a new destination you will be charged only for
what you fly.
· Sector pricing makes it easier to collect service charges, by greatly
reducing the manual handling of flight coupons.
· In many instances, employee travel charges will be substantially lower
than they are today.
· As is the case today, Parent/Partner charges will continue to be
assessed at three times the cost of the employee/retiree charge.
Definition of a trip and determining your trip charges
To correctly assess applicable taxes and trip charges, a trip has been defined
as any one of the following:
1. You have returned to your point of origin.
2. 30 days have elapsed since your travel began you will be billed for
travel within this time frame. If your entire journey exceeds 30 days, the
remaining sectors will be billed and taxed as a separate trip.
3. You have completed eight (8) sectors of travel you will be billed.
Should your entire journey exceed more than eight sectors, the additional
sectors will be billed as a separate trip.
Billing
The new billing process will result in timelier billing of your travel charges.
Once your flight departs, a “record” of your travel will be initiated. This
means that you will only be billed for actual travel, not intended travel.
· Billing is initiated once the flight departs the Departure Control
System (DCS), Air Canada’s reservation system, will generate a charge for that
segment. If you do not board the flight, you will not be charged.
· Before you or your parent/partner travel, you will be able to determine
the cost of the trip, including taxes.
· The actual price, after travel, may vary due to the rate of exchange or
any changes in taxes or fees.
· For those of you who are payroll or pension-deducted, you will be able
to choose whether you want to pay by credit card or by payroll deduction.
· Charges will be recorded on your credit card statement or on your pay
stub.
· Information about your chosen credit card and its expiry date will be
stored within your travel profile. All information stored within this profile
has been created in People Soft and will be secure.
If you find an error on your pay stub or on your credit card statement, contact
Employee Travel & Recognition at 1-866-473-4732.
Transition Period
· All travel on or after Dec. 16 will be billed on a per-sector basis.
· If your trip is scheduled to begin before Dec. 16, with a return or
onward journey on or after this date, you will not be billed twice for the same
segment(s).
· All travel using your 2002 allotment of passes must begin before
Jan. 1,
2003 and completed by Jan. 10, 2003.
· The PNR you created before Dec. 16 will be converted automatically to
reflect your new travel priority for the return portion if applicable (i.e. an
Air Canada employee travelling on JAZZ with a C2/Y10 priority as of Dec. 16).
Important: If you plan to travel the week of Dec. 16, ensure that you make
your
arrangements before Fri., Dec. 13. To prepare for the new site, the ETS and
Speech Recognition applications will be unavailable from 11 p.m. Friday, Dec.
13 to 1 a.m., Monday, Dec. 16. The Employee Call Center will be available to
handle any urgent calls.
Correction to the Dec. 12 Flash: Employees and retirees should not provide
their
PIN number to a parent or partner. You will be held accountable for any
transactions that are made through your travel profile.

2. 30 days have elapsed since your travel began you will be billed for
travel within this time frame.
You will be held accountable for any
transactions that are made through your travel profile.

. Need to know.
In a recent NetLetter you were informed that you have to provide Fed Ex
with an Air Canada photo I D in order to take advantage of the special shipping
rates. How is this possible for my spouse, since Air Canada no longer issues
same for a spouse ? ?
Answer:
In the future all spouses and non dependant children travelling unaccompanied
should carry a photo copy of the employees I.D. As mentioned earlier this will
be accepted by Fed Ex as well. Fed Ex will also accept an Air Canada I.D
together with other photo Identification ( drivers license, passport, etc. )
Note: (With the new system of ticketless travel, may we suggest you carry a
blank pass incase your routing changes due loads, and you are at a station
which requires a pass - it would save time at check-in for both yourself and
the gate agent! Also, we suggest that you retain your various boarding passes,
incase there is an erroneous charge later, after all this is a new system and I
used to be a programmer - well what can we say!!! - eds)

EMPLOYEE TRAVEL FLASH
Helping you get set for the new and improved Employee Travel Site
Traveling Ticketless
Starting Dec. 16, all active and retired Air Canada and Air Canada Jazz
employees will be able to use the new and improved Employee Travel Site (ETS).
You will soon receive a User Guide explaining the new processes, but in the
meantime, here is some important information on how your travel will be
impacted.
As of Dec. 16, travel from on-line DCS (Departure Control System) stations will
become ticketless for business and personal travel, including C1/J10, award of
excellence or other prize pass travel and parent/ partner travel. DCS stations,
located in all cities within Canada and several major cities in the U.S. and
International, are stations that use Air Canada’s reservation system. Non-DCS
stations are those handled by other airlines. Ticketless travel will eliminate
errors and facilitate the timely billing of your trip.
How does it work?
At all times, you must list yourself before you arrive at the airport, and you
should always have your record locator number (PNR) with you. It’s also a good
idea to always travel with a printed copy of your itinerary.
Once at the airport, you’re encouraged to check-in using Express Check-in
Kiosk. The letters 'TL’ on your boarding pass indicate that this is ticketless
travel.
When a flight departs, the DCS system will generate a charge for that segment.
A paper ticket is not required for you to be billed. If you aren’t boarded on
the flight you will not be charged.
Traveling from Non-DCS stations
For non-DCS stations, a paper coupon is still required. ETS will let you know,
by a prompt message, whether you’re traveling to or from a non-DCS station. If
you use Speech Recognition, please refer to the back of your user guide for a
list of non-DCS stations.
While we are planning to introduce a simplified coupon in early 2003, in the
interim, you’re asked to continue using the current trip pass stock.
N.B. Ensure that you complete and sign all coupons for pass eligible holders
under your travel profile (i.e. parents). You must provide them with your
employee number and your service date. This information will be required if
flight arrangements must be changed at the last minute at the airport.
Important Travel Tips Always Travel Prepared
· Research your trip in advance. Look up alternative routings and take a
printed copy with you. Speech recognition works best when you know the flight
numbers you wish to book or register for.
· Always register yourself or your dependents/non-dependents, parents or
partners before travelling, and ensure that you and your travel partners have a
record of your PNR with you.
· Always carry paper travel coupons with you in case you decide to
re-route to a non-DCS station. Although these stations should have a supply on
hand, be prepared.
· Keep a copy of the Speech Recognition telephone number with you in case
you need to change your itinerary.
· Always provide your unaccompanied Parents/Partners with your employee
number, your service date, your PIN number, in the event that they need to
re-plan their trip.
· If you have registered for a flight and are not boarded, you will
automatically be put on the standby list for the next flight, as is the case
today. However, if you decide to try for an alternate routing, you must use
Speech Recognition to register yourself.
· Remember, the first priority for airport staff is to assist our revenue
customers, so always travel prepared.
Important: If you plan to travel the week of Dec. 16, ensure you make your
arrangements before Friday, Dec. 13. To prepare for the new site, the ETS and
Speech Recognition applications will be unavailable on Dec. 14 & 15. The
Employee Call Centre will be available to handle any urgent calls.
EMPLOYEE TRAVEL FLASH
HELPING YOU GET SET FOR THE NEW AND IMPROVED EMPLOYEE TRAVEL SITE
Parent/Partner Travel 2003
As you know, starting Dec. 16, the new and improved Employee Travel Site (ETS)
will be ready to use. While such features as ticketless travel, harmonized
priority, and sector pricing will be in effect on this date, parent and partner
travel changes will only come into effect Jan. 1, 2003.
In the meantime, the following information will help you become familiar with
the changes to the new partner travel program – unaccompanied travel for
non-dependent children and a designated partner, for single employees only.
This program is on a one-year trial basis.
What has changed?
· Non-dependent children will be able to travel unaccompanied at a C5/Y10
priority. The spouse or children of non-dependent children are not entitled to
travel unaccompanied.
· Single employees or retirees, only, will have the option of
nominating 1
(one) person to travel “unaccompanied” at a C5/Y10 priority. They can change
the designated partner after six months.
· Your allotment will be registered and tracked in your employee travel
profile.
How does this work?
· You will store the name of your non-dependent children or eligible
unaccompanied partner in your Profile on ETS. You can access your profile from
the menu bar on the home page.
· The system requires 48 hours to capture the information. Therefore, you
are recommended to wait the 48 hours before you attempt to register your
non-dependent children or unaccompanied partner for a flight. You only need to
enter the name once, as after 48 hours, it will remain on your profile for
future travel arrangements.
· Once you have entered your non-dependent children or unaccompanied
partner in your profile on ETS, you will also be able to register them for
flights using Speech Recognition.
What remains the same with the Parent/Partner program?
· You still have a total annual allotment of ten (10) Parent/Partner
passes.
· All other travel partners must be accompanied by the employee or their
spouse to a maximum of 4 partners per flight.
· Eligible widows/widowers continue to receive four (4) partner
passes per
year.
· Parents continue to travel unaccompanied at their C3/Y10 priority (part
of the total allotment of 10). If you accompany your parents, they will travel
on your priority.
· The cost of a Parent/Partner Travel pass is equal to three times the
employee Y charge.
· Ticketless Travel for Parent/Partners
· Parents and partners will also travel ticketless from Departure Control
System (DCS) stations. For stations handled by other airlines (non-DCS
stations) they must use a travel coupon.
N.B. Ensure that your parents or partners, and any other pass eligible holders,
are registered before going to the airport, and ensure that you complete and
sign all coupons for each pass eligible holder under your travel profile. You
must provide them with your employee number and your service date. This
information will be required if flight arrangements must be changed at the last
minute at the airport.
At the end of your user guide, you will find the Warsaw Convention Act, as well
as other legal documentation on limitation of liabilities. You must ensure all
persons traveling under your travel profile, including yourself, have read
these documents prior to travel.

EMPLOYEE TRAVEL FLASH nr 1
HELPING YOU GET SET FOR THE NEW AND IMPROVED EMPLOYEE TRAVEL SITE
Starting Dec. 16, all active and retired Air Canada and Air Canada Jazz
employees will have access to the Employee Travel Site (ETS), formerly known as
the Employee Travel Website (ETWS). The site is enhanced with the new travel
features, such as ticketless travel, harmonized priority and segment pricing.
Changes made to the 2003 partner travel program, such as unaccompanied travel
for non-dependent children and a designated partner, for single employees only,
come into effect on January 1, 2003.
A User Guide, explaining the new processes, is currently being sent to all
active employees through company mail, and externally (by mail) to retirees and
employees on leaves of absence. In the meantime, we can confirm that procedures
to access the web site at www.travel.aircanada.ca have not changed. You’re
still
required to logon by using your six digit employee number (012345) and the PIN
(Personal Identification Number) provided to you when we first introduced ETWS.
If you’ve misplaced your PIN number, contact the Employee Travel Call Centre at
(800)-413-1113.
Here are some of the highlights of ETS’s new functionality and enhancements to
make trip planning easier:
· Flight Shopping for personal or business travel
· Enhanced display of flight schedules and seat availability, and greater
ease to book or list yourself on flights
· Ability to view cost of travel at time of booking
· Selection of billing options - Active employees and retirees, in
receipt
of a pension, will have the option to pay for travel by credit card or payroll
deduction. Individuals who do not receive a pay statement from Air Canada and
Air Canada Jazz will only be able to pay by credit card
· Review travel itinerary
· Option to verify, change or cancel bookings
· Travel History
· Review of your travel record - flight sectors travelled and billed
under
your employee number
· My Travel Profile
· Access to information on your travel privileges, and an account of
travel taken with the applicable charges
· Ability to add your nominated partner (if you are single) or your
non-dependent children who will be eligible for unaccompanied travel effective
Jan. 1.
· The credit card payment option can be made securely on ETS.
· As credit card payment is only one option, indicate your “default”
method of payment (your “default” method of payment will also apply to all
registrations made using Speech Recognition).
· News & Policies
· Review rules and regulations about Travel Privileges.
*Please note that the ability to order and price other airline (OAL) Zed fares
will be introduced in the near future.
Transition Period – Billings, allotments and PNR Harmonization
If you plan to travel the week of Dec. 16, ensure you make your arrangements
before Friday, Dec. 13. To prepare for the new site, the ETS and Speech
Recognition applications will be unavailable on Dec. 14 & 15.
· All travel on or after Dec.16 will be billed on a per-segment basis.
16 will be converted automatically to
reflect your new travel priority for the return portion – if applicable (i.e.
an Air Canada employee travelling on JAZZ with a C2/Y10 priority as of Dec.
16).
All this week, through a special Flash edition of the Daily, we will provide
you with other important travel changes starting Dec. 16. Stay tuned for
details on travelling ticketless, Speech Recognition, the new billing process,
new sector pricing, Parent/Partner travel program and your travel profile.

EMPLOYEE TRAVEL FLASH nr 2
HELPING YOU GET SET FOR THE NEW AND IMPROVED EMPLOYEE TRAVEL SITE
On Dec. 16, you will have access to new and enhanced tools to help you plan,
list and book your business and personal travel, including parent/partner
travel.
The new Employee Travel Site (ETS) and Speech Recognition products will now be
the only tools you’ll need to make all your travel plans. ETS is a secure site,
as it is only available to all active and retired Air Canada and Air Canada
Jazz employees. Accessing the site remains the same, simply log on to
www.travel.aircanada.ca, and use your six digit employee number and your PIN
number. If you have trouble using your PIN, contact Employee Call Centre at 1
(800) 413 -1113
Highlights of the enhanced Employee Travel Site
- Ability to make your service award, C1/J10, award of excellence or other
prize pass travel bookings
- Selection of payment options: Employees on payroll and retirees in receipt of
a pension will have the option to pay by credit card or by payroll deduction.
- Other Travel Privilege holders, such as individuals who are not in receipt of
a pension, employees on Leave, Destina™, Aeroplan® and Air Canada Vacations®
employees can now use these automated tools, and must pay for their travel by
credit card
- Your new Employee Travel Profile will detail your individual travel
privileges, display your travel allotment and track the number of passes used
- Your travel history will include a detailed record of trips taken and their
applicable charges
- ETS will confirm whether or not you require a flight coupon for travel from a
non-DCS station
- ETS will automatically notify you if your destination requires you to travel
with a visa, passport or any other necessary travel document. It’s your
responsibility to ensure that you have in your possession all required travel
documents. If you fail to do so, you will be liable for charge-backs or fines
that Air Canada incurs
Speech Recognition (SR) – Limited capabilities
Speech Recognition can:
- Continue to serve your travel needs for flight schedules, registrations and
bookings

I found the following item interesting as may some of our readers.
Nightly Note from Peter Mansbridge
In one of my former lives I was trying to be a pilot for the Royal
Canadian Navy. I had a ball the whole time I was in the service...too much
of a ball as it turned out. We parted ways before I was able to finish the
course. Their choice, not mine!
However, as I said, I had a great time and have always carried enormous
respect for the young men and women who go through the pilot training
program with the Canadian Armed Forces. It's tough and they're tough too.
My last posting was in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba where I was in the
advanced flying training program, flying twin-engined C-45's known by their
nickname 'the Expeditor'. The year was 1967 - Centennial Year - and
Portage was home base for something else, something very special. The men
and machines of the Golden Centennaires were stationed there and every day
over the lunch hours our lumbering old aircraft and we were grounded. The
air belonged to the Centennaires and their flashy, relatively new, Tutor
jets. We'd stand there in awe outside the mess watching them perform their
loops and rolls in precision formation. You wondered whether anything
could ever be better or more modern than that.
Well, that was 35 years ago, and some people are still wondering whether
there ever WILL be anything better and more modern than that in the
Canadian Armed Forces. The Tutors are still flying, now called the
Snowbirds, still doing the same aerial tricks, and even though many have
argued it's time for new planes, Ottawa announced today that the Tutors
would be the aircraft of choice for many years to come. Well, they sure
have the memories.

16 will be converted automatically to
reflect your new travel priority for the return portion – if applicable (i.e.
an Air Canada employee travelling on JAZZ with a C2/Y10 priority as of Dec.

Highlights of the enhanced Employee Travel Site

prize pass travel bookings

a pension will have the option to pay by credit card or by payroll deduction.

a pension, employees on Leave, Destina™, Aeroplan® and Air Canada Vacations®
employees can now use these automated tools, and must pay for their travel by
credit card

privileges, display your travel allotment and track the number of passes used
- Your travel history will include a detailed record of trips taken and their
applicable charges

with a visa, passport or any other necessary travel document. It’s your
responsibility to ensure that you have in your possession all required travel
documents. If you fail to do so, you will be liable for charge-backs or fines
that Air Canada incurs
Speech Recognition (SR) – Limited capabilities
Speech Recognition can:
- Continue to serve your travel needs for flight schedules, registrations and
bookings
- Allow you to register a designated partner (single employees only) or a
non-dependent child as long as he/she is featured in your profile

you have set-up in your web profile.
