Eligibility
Upon presntation of the employee's ID card at any Air Canada cargo
office. Active and retired employees are allowed to ship personal goods on
any cargo services offered.
Discount
The applicable discounts are:
AC Expedair (50%) Min charge : $20 Domestic
AC Priority (50% Min charge : $20
AC Air Freight (80%) Min charge : $6 North America, $15 Int'l
The discounts apply to the first 100kg of the shipment and excess
weights will be subject to normal rates. The discounts are based on the
applicable rates as published in the current cargo tariffs and will be
subject to the minimum charges.
Only one applicable discount will be permitted per airwaybill.
Shipments will be accepted for movement on AC Services only.
Discounts do not apply for interline shipments, and shipments moving
via surface transportation to off-points.
Limitations
Only goods for personal use will be shipped. Valuables, human remains
and dangerous goods will not be accepted. Shipments of live animals are
permitted.Limits of liability for loss or damage will be in accordance with
the applicable tariffs.
Packaging
Packaging of shipments will be subject to all applicable rules and
regulations in force at the time of acceptance. IATA packaging standards
only. All valuation, insurance and miscellaneous charges will be
applicable at full normal rates.

. Ross Smyth, retired Pionair and author of two books, titles are
"Lindbergh of Canada: The Erroll Boyd Story" and "Aviation Memoirs: A Love
Affair with Flight" mostly about
TCA/AC.

In the evening of November the 3rd., Pionair Ralph Webber and I attended
the annual induction ceremonies at the Quebec Air and Space Hall of Fame
(Pantheon de l'Air et
de l'Espace de Quebec) held in Longueuil just south of Montreal.
Some of the presentations may be of interest to your readers.
Inductee Pierre Jeanniot was appointed Air Canada's president and chief
executive officer in 1984, retiring in 1990 after 35 years of distinguished
service. He contributed to the early development of flight recorders, the
famous "black boxes", and directed the computerization of the airline.
>From 1993 to 2002 he served as director general and chief executive officer
of IATA (International Air Transport Association). The presentation was
made by Dr. Kotaite (check spelling), head of ICAO (International Civil
Aviation Organization).
Also inducted into the Hall of Fame were the three Scholefield brothers,
Jack, Don and Bob, who organized Laurentide Aviation in Cartierville,
Montreal, in 1946 that grew into one of the largest flying schools in
Canada. Their flying school has produced more than 600 Air Canada and other
airline pilots.
This presentation was conducted by Andre Dumas, former regional director
with Transport Canada.
Kathy Fox, vice-.president of operations for Nav Canada since 2003, was
also inducted into the Hall of Fame, and is known to many airline personnel.

Several years ago Capt Fred Meredith sent us a listing of TCA's past
history, and we notice that
62 years ago, in October 1942, the following Trans-Canada Air Lines
personnel were seconded to the Return Ferry Service North Atlantic -
Captains M.B.Barclay, J.L.Rood, G.B.Lothian. F/O's H.I.Hayes, W.R.Bell
and A.H.Palmer, Radio Operators A.J.Blackwood, J.A.Webster and G.E.Nettleton.
The first chief stewardess was Lucille Garner in July 1st 1938.
The first stewardessess were P.Eccleston, RN on July 1st 1938
R.Crispin, RN on Nov 16th 1938
L.I.Finlay, RN on Feb 16th 1939

. Found on the internet.
The last airworthy Bristol 170 freighter registered C-GYQS, formerly
RNZAF)owned by Hawkair at Terrace BC was due to make its final flight to
the Reynolds museum at Wetaskiwin, Alberta at the end of August. This may
be the last flight ever by a Bristol 'airliner'. In preparation for this
flight, a test flight was made on August 24th 2004. The last flight by this
machine was in 1999.

The prestigious Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators in Britain has given
one of its highest honors to the crew of a DHL Airbus A300 who landed the
plane (stuck in the trim position for climbout) apparently using only the
thrust from the engines to control pitch, attitude and direction. The
pilots, Capt. Eric Genotte, First Officer Steeve Michielson and Flight
Engineer Mario Rofail, were presented the Hugh Gordon-Burge Award, which is
for outstanding airmanship in saving an aircraft. Earlier this year, the
Airbus made a spectacular -- and safe -- landing in Baghdad about 25
minutes after being hit by a missile while taking off.
