Joe Gulyes passes on this experience -
Just reporting, that having just completed travel from YUL-HNL returning from
Maui, it is correctly shown on the Registration Site as requiring a ticket out
of Maui. Twice attempted to obtain ticket stock from the counters at YUL prior
to departure,(at great Parking Lot expense) and was advised they were
unavailable by at least two of the agents, and that all AC travel is now
ticketless, stock no longer being stocked.
Sorry to advise that we were unable to board out of Maui and had to purchase
Aloha fares to HNL, where we succeeded in continuing homeward bound travel.
If they are available, perhaps at the employee travel office, (hours of
operation unknown to those of us now living out of town), I strongly suggest
not to heed any ticket counter advice, but to try and obtain blank tickets
wherever you can find them supplied.

Blainville remembers TCA flight 831. In memory of the 112 passengers and six
crew members of Trans-Canada Air Lines flight 831, which crashed on Nov. 29,
1963 in Blainville, Quebec, the city of Blainville has organized a
commemorative exhibition from Nov. 20 - 30 featuring photographs and art
with an aviation theme. In addition, on Nov. 24, from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m., at
the local art gallery, the city will unveil a special plaque. If you're
interested in attending the commemoration event, please call (450) 434-5275.
Nov 18th 1996 inauguration of Toronto to Raleigh-Durham (RDU) with
DC9 equipment fin nr 748. Last revenue flight for this aircraft was
AC428 YYZ-YUL on
December 31st 2001. Total flying time 70372 hours.

Star Alliance News:
United reveals its low-fare carrier – just call me Ted. United Airlines
finally
revealed the name of its new low-fare division. As reported by the Wall Street
Journal, “Ted” is named after the last syllable in the parent’s name, Uni –
ted, and its planes will sport a radically different look – a white fuselage
with “Ted” in large blue letters, and a white tail sporting a big, orange
iteration of United’s double-U logo. The initial fleet will comprise 19 Airbus
A320 jetliners that will begin flying in February. The unveiling celebration
will take place on Nov. 18 in Denver, where the carrier will be based.

The Quarter Century in Aviation Club is unique in its structure and
requirements. The founding members of this Club
decided that an organization was required that would welcome people in
Aviation to come together as friends to share their
experiences without interference from the restraints of competition -
which was very common in this fledgling 1952 industry.
The inspiration for this Club was Mr. Bill Windrum who was part of the
management for Canadian Pacific Airlines.
He was a pilot flying for Canadian Airways out of Thunder Bay (Port
Arthur), Prince Albert, and Edmonton.
Windrum became the first President of the Club in 1952. The basic
requirement to join this Club was that an individual had to
have at least 25 years in aviation. It must be remembered that the
Wright Bros. first manned power-driven heavier than air
machine flight, took place on Dec. 17, 1903 and that was only 49 years
earlier, so anyone with 25 years in the industry was also
quite unique.
The Club's archives do not reveal how the founding members settled on "A
Quarter Century" as threshold for membership. The
close proximity to the "maiden flight" date made this Club a very
exclusive organization. The first meeting was held at the
Alcazar Hotel.
We now have reached another milestone in aviation by celebrating 100
years of flight. During this time we have seen many
changes. In some cases the competition has disappeared. In others it has
intensified. But there is still a need for those who have
a deep interest in Aviation to have a place where they can come to
exchange experiences, renew acquaintances, and meet
other individuals who share the same passion. Name Tags are worn by
members and guests.
The Quarter Century in Aviation Club meets at the Austria Vancouver Club
building at 5851 Westminster Hwy. in Richmond BC.
Starting at 17:00 hrs. for an one hour pre-dinner fellowship, followed
by a very good buffet served at 18:00 hours. There is
always a basic serving of Austrian food, which is augmented by a variety
of other entrees. Dinner is followed by a short
business meeting.
We break for 15 minutes for a stretch and refills. Entertainment is
provided after the break, ranging from informative quest
speakers to special presentations. At our February meeting you have the
opportunity to bring your date/spouse for musical
entertainment and dancing.
The meetings are held on the Third Tuesday of October, November,
January, February, March, and April.
Membership is open to any individual who has Twenty Five Years in
Aviation, regardless of what they may have been doing
during those Twenty Five years.
Every field of endeavour in Aviation is represented by members and that
is what makes this Club unique.
If you are a professional or amateur in Aviation and have the prime
requisite of Twenty Five years experience, this is the Club
for you.
The dinner meal is very reasonably priced and the annual membership fee
is at an affordable level.

Airport will go ahead no matter what the new prime minister thinks,
according to Transport Minister David Collenette.
RYANAIR - UK nr 1 low cost airline,has redesigned the interior of its
B737-800 fleet presently being delivered. The complete upgrade includes
blue-leather covered non-reclining seats with bright yellow headrests, which
