. Need to know.
ATTENTION: HORIZON SUBSCRIBERS
As Air Canada ceased printing the Horizons effective May 1/03 a decision was
made by Air Canada to produce a bi-monthly paper now called the 'New Horizons',
that would be available only on the AC Horizons web site. As a result of this
decision, I was asked by Fraser O'Shaughnessy, President of the Air Canada
Pionairs, to work with Harling Marketing Inc., responsible for the distribution
of the Horizons, to come up with a way to get this new issue out to all
subscribers. Harling has indicated that the cost of handling & processing the
return of funds to those who have subscribed would be too costly and therefore
have come forward with a solution for the upcoming year ending April/2004.
Their suggestion would be to have eight mailings per year. In each mailing the
member would to receive 3 issues of the 'New Horizons' (e.g. May 15th; May
31st; & June 15th delivered a week later.
Harling currently has 3,700 subscribers of Horizons and in order to break
even using the abovementioned proposal they would require an additional 800
subscriptions. To help Harling get additional funds, it was suggested that we
ask former advertisers of the original Horizons if they would like to continue
placing their adds in each mailing. By doing so it would allow Harling to break
even as well as maintain the annual subscription of $10.
Thanks for your understanding,
John Rodger

This research was developed a long time ago.
You make a very gentle touchdown . This uses the "ground cushion effect" to
spin
the wheels up before there is actual surface contact.

From the monthly newsletter of the U.K. Pionairs -
LHR Baggage “Unit” Retirees:
Last month saw a few of our Baggage people retiring after many years of
service. Around 100 former and current colleagues met up for an evening at
the British Legion Hall, Sipson. Some of these colleagues were there in the
very early days when the Baggage Unit started and helped to build it up to a
very high standard, and known throughout the system. Retiring with long
service last month were Steve Hodder, Owen David, Eugene Green, Albert Thurwood
and George Cover, not all of whom could make the evening. Earlier retirees
who were there included John Wood, Nigel Parsons and Barry Stride, all of them
making a great contribution to the success of the Baggage Handling section.
How often did you have to wait a long time for your baggage, and on arrival in
the Customs Hall to be met by a smiling Baggage agent advising you that your
baggage was not on the flight and had gone to London, Ontario? You didn’t,
did you?!! Back-up from the Ramp staff and Management all helped to maintain
our high standards. Well done, chaps!
