. Must know.
FedEx offers reduced rate shipping for employees and retirees. On Oct. 15,
Air Canada and Federal Express – the Company’s preferred courier provider –
renewed their strategic alliance for another five years. FedEx ships Air Canada
materials ranging from documents to aircraft parts. Employees of Air Canada,
Air Canada Jazz, Air Canada Vacations, ZIP, and Destina, with minimum six
months service, enjoy the benefit of receiving a 75 per cent discount on all
personal shipments. Great news, these benefits have now been extended to
retirees! A valid picture ID or photocopy must be presented at any of the FedEx
shipment locations. For spouses, a photocopy of the employee or retiree’s Air
Canada identification must be presented. This year, the holiday blackout
periods are lifted, but it’s recommended you ship early.

. Need to know.
Parent/Partner Travel Program 2003 details on achorizons. Recently, we
announced
a few changes to the existing Parent/Partner program. Some employees expressed
confusion about the limited “unaccompanied” partner travel introduced on a
one-year trial basis. To clarify, starting next year, “unaccompanied” partner
travel will apply only to the non-dependent children of all active and retired
Air Canada and Air Canada Jazz employee, and to single employees and retirees
who will be able to designate a partner. Complete details of the new program
are available in "Streamlining Employee Travel" which is available on
www.achorizons.ca, in the article entitled “New employee travel policy to be
introduced in the new year.”

Air Canada cancels Charleston-Toronto service. Effective Jan. 18, 2003,
due to
continued weak profitability, our Charleston-Toronto weekend service will be
cancelled, and daily service will not resume in April

. May Day!
Keith Hamilton sends this -
I am looking for some travel information please.  Is there anyone out there
that has had any experience or knowledge of travel  to and within Cuba?  I
would appreciate any information at all regarding renting a house or apartment
and a car rental for a period of up to three months.  Possibly in the Havana or
Santiago de Cuba area or any other suggested areas.  I would like to learn more
about Cuba as a winter escape location.  Thank you in advance. I am a former
Canadian Airlines employee.

. Found on the internet.
Staff at United Airlines, several months ago, began stencilling a name of a
recently retired
captain on the nose of aircraft, that is until management noticed them and
ordered them
removed and the practice discontinued.

Our chief pilot, Vesta, found this -

Canada's airline industry is demanding the federal government cut its
air security fee from $24 for each round trip to $7.65.

. Betty and Roy Laxon sends us this trip report -
Hi!
We thought that someone might be interested in our recent holiday in
Tuscany. We found a delightful set of 4 villas on a large Fattoria(farm)
known as La Sciolta of several hundred acres near the village of Gambassi
Terme which is between Pisa and Florence. The owners are a young couple
Cristiano and Gabriella Morelli who live in another villa on the farm. The
villas range in size from 2-10 bedrooms and we paid 6300 Euros for 3 weeks
for 6 couples which worked out to about $1500 per couple for the 3 weeks.
If you fly into Pisa it takes about 1hour and half to get to the farm which
is set in the Tuscany hills and from which one can visit lots of interesting
medieval towns and villages. A 20 minute car ride will get you to the local
train station from where one can get to Florence without having to battle
the traffic and have to find parking in that wonderful city.
If you wish you can hire a local cook to come and prepare dinner Tuscan
style (our dining table would sit 16)!! and Cristiano is only too happy to
sell you a case of his very good red wine from his vineyards for 36 Euros a
dozen bottles!!
There are plenty of restaurants within an hour of the farm and all the
villas are furnished with modern facilities although TV is limited in
English to news stations but who wants to watch the tube in Tuscany.
Their web page is www.fattorialasciolta.it and their e-mail is

. Smilies.
The UK low cost airline easyJet has recently bought British Airways low
cost airline GO. We wonder of the new name maybe 'GO easy' and, should easyJet
purchase the US low cost airline ComAir whether the name would be 'easyCOM
easyGO'?

J. Hayes sent these in -
Tower: "Delta 351, you have traffic at 10 o'clock, 6 miles!"
Delta 351: "Give us another hint! We have digital watches!"
==============
One day, the pilot of a Cherokee 180 was told by the tower to hold short of
the runway while a DC-8 landed. The
DC-8 landed, rolled out, turned around, and taxied back past the Cherokee.
Some quick-witted comedian in the
DC-8 crew got on the radio and said, "What a cute little plane. Did you make
it all by yourself?"
Our hero the Cherokee pilot, not about to let the insult go by, came back
with a real zinger: "I made it out of
DC-8 parts.
Another landing like that and I'll have enough parts for another one."
===============
There's a story about the military pilot calling for a priority landing
because his single-engine jet fighter was running "a bit peaked." Air Traffic
Control told the fighter jock that he was number two behind a B-52 that had one
engine shut down. "Ah", the pilot remarked, " the dreaded seven-engine
approach."
==================
A student became lost during a solo cross-country flight. While attempting
to locate the aircraft on radar, ATC asked, "What was your last known
position?"
Student: "When I was number one for takeoff."
