You Need to Know:
Further to our various communications regarding the continuation of Retiree
Parking at the Operations Centre while away on Vacation, it is with regret
that we must advise you that, as of Monday June 3rd, 2002, it will no longer
be available. This cancellation has come about due to the ongoing
consolidation of the parking for a number of additional groups of employees,
from other areas, at the Operations Centre.
Those of you who are planning on a short trip and will be back by Sunday,
June 2nd may wish to use the programme, as in the past, by getting a pass
from the East Entrance Security Officer. However, if there is any
possibility of you not being back by June 2nd, you should make alternate
arrangements. As of Monday June 3rd this Parking will just not be available.
Arrangements have been made to make sure that the vehicle of anyone who is
away now, on May 22nd, and are still within their 30 days but will not be
back by June 3rd, will not have their vehicles towed. But others should not
take the chance of parking now until beyond June 3rd as they may be towed.
This parking privilege has been wonderful for us all and the alternatives
for the future will not be as good and will involve considerable cost. While
there are many options, outlined below are two which you may wish to
consider.......
(1) Aero Park Airport Parking, 9393 Oak Street (Between Marine Drive and the
Fraser River) Phone 604-266-4242
Free Shuttle to and from the Airport Terminal -- Regular Rate:- $6.25 per
Day - Senior Rate:- $5.95 per Day for up to Seven days and for Eight or more
Days - $5.00 per Day - $35.00 per Week. Note:- All rates plus GST and PST.
(2) Park & Fly, 6380 Miller Road, Phone 604-270-9476 - Free Shuttle to and
from the Airport Terminal -- Regular Rate:- $11.95 per Day or $69.95 per
Week -- Air Canada Employees/Retirees with Air Canada I.D. Rate:- $6.00 per
Day - $35.00 per Week. Note:- All Rates plus GST and PST.
It had been our understanding that we would receive at least 30 days notice
of this cancellation but unfortunately this has not been the case and your
assistance in advising as many of our group as possible will be sincerely
appreciated.
Should you require any further clarification on the foregoing would you
kindly call Bill Neill at 604-277-3587. Bill has coordinated this effort on
behalf of the retiree group over the years and is to be commended for his
dedication and commitment.

You need to Know that:
Proposed new Employee Pass Travel Plan changes
Date: Tue, 21 May 2002 12:21:23 -0700
Due to perceived difficulties in Airport departure processing, particularly
at the last minute with changes, etc., it has now been decided to retain
the current entitlement for C2 Y10 and eliminate any purchasing of upgrades
under this category. A passholder will register for the flight, as you do
now, and if at flight time, Y is not available but J is, then you will be
placed in J at no extra charge. Thus every seat on the flight will be
available at the same cost. This is the process used now and it will
continue.
Additionally, as indicated in my last e-mail, all active & retired(spouses
and children included as they are now) will be able to purchase 2 C1/J10
passes each year and be able to travel in J as a first option (children
over 12) and of course have a higher priority......which is really what you
are buying. Again, all the rules which are in effect now for C1/J10 will
continue to apply.

Sight-seeing tour of the Island of Montreal
Aerial sight-seeing tour of the Island of Montreal
Taking To The Skies For A Good Cause. Air Canada's Flight Operations Crew
Scheduling team is offering an aerial sight-seeing tour of the Island of
Montreal aboard CF-TCC, Air Canada's vintage Lockheed L10A aircraft. The
flights will depart Montreal from the Air Canada Maintenance Base, Cote
Vertu Road West, on May 31 and June 1. There are four flights per day and
the aircraft seats nine people. The cost per seat is $100 Cdn for a
45-minute flight over the Island. Proceeds will go to the Starlight
Children's Foundation Canada, a non-profit organization whose mandate is to
grant wishes to critically, chronically and terminally ill children. For
details, contact Lois Cadman at (514) 694-0276 or Glenn Day at (514)
422-6201. Income tax receipts will be provided.

*** Allergies can be a disability for passengers.
CBC -- The Canadian Transportation Agency has ruled
allergies can be considered a disability for airline
passengers. The agency will investigate seven
complaints against Air Canada by passengers who had
allergic reactions to dogs, cats, flowers and paint.
Pending the investigation, the CTA could issue a
directive to remove "undue obstacles" for the disabled.
This could mean restrictions on what passengers can
bring on a flight or even the kind of perfume a
person can wear.
