. Food for thought!
In NetLetter nr 129 issued Mar 2nd 1997, we mentioned that registration C-FTCA
was flying around on a B767-365 owned and operated by Canadi>n.
Well Trans-Canada Air Lines were the proud owner of this sequence of letters on
their Lockheed L10A as CF-TCA in the late 1930's, before it was deregistered and
the L10A ended up in Ottawa Museum.
Who would have thought that Air Canada would buy another airline just to get this
registration sequence again!!!

*** It's all the rage these days -- unruly passengers in the skies
Too many troublesome airline passengers continue to interfere with flight crews
despite a stiff new federal fine, a U.S. flight attendants' union says. Part of the
problem, according to the Association of Flight Attendants, is that neither the Federal
Aviation Administration nor the airlines are informing passengers of the higher civil fine,
approved by Congress and President Clinton in April.
The maximum fine earlier was $1,100; now it is $25,000 per violation.
Violent passengers also can face criminal penalties of a $10,000 fine and up to
20 years in prison.

. Lockheed CF-TCC update from Alan MacLeod -
The Lockheed is back in Winnipeg until the 14th of Aug.
TCC flew from Halifax to St. John on Friday the 28th. On Sat. four trips were flown for
DREAMS St. John staff. Finally after two years of "NO OPS", due fog from the
Bay of Fundy, we had a nice day. Claire Mantel, the DREAMS representative there
was pleased with the results. She has a first, we think. We had a first flighter,
John MacIntyre, who is 86 years young. John immigrated to Canada from Scotland in
1929 and has never gone back. He loved flying and had a grin from ear to ear throughout
the trip. Good for him.
On Sunday we were in Fredericton and four flights were flown there. It was the best
year yet for "Freddy" and Paul Leblanc was pleased with the results.
During the afternoon he had three chaps, who are part of a group making a movie in the
Fredericton area, and happened to be at the airport, decide to donate to the DREAMS
cause. They were impressed and made a very generous donation for the cause.
Sunday evening (30th) Harvey Reid and I flew the aircraft back to Dorval. On Tuesday
and Wednesday (1st and 2nd), Harvey Reid, Ted Dodds and I ferried the aircraft to
Winnipeg via Ottawa, Toronto Island, Sault St. Marie, Thunder Bay. Harvey left in
Toronto and Ted joined the aircraft there. After departing from Thunder Bay on Wed.,
the flying time to date this summer passed one hundred hours.
TCC will undergo a one hundred hour inspection plus have a few other things done
and then go to Vancouver.
DREAMS flying there will be on Aug. 17 through 20th. Capt Ken Patry and
Capt. Harvey Reid will be there.
Flying will be from the Air Canada hangar.

. Floyd Carson wrote a tribute to Captain Morley Servos, who recently
passed away, and included these two stories which may be of interest -
In the early 1960's I was flying an Aero Commander down to the east coast
for demonstration purchase. Moe was a Captain on the Trans-Canada Air Line
North Star. I was cruising at 7,000 feet and had just positioned by Stirling Radio -
just north of Trenton. Shortly after Moe's voice came on the radio. "Floyd this is M.O.E. what altitude are you at?" A few minutes later he said "look out your left window."
I almost died! There was Moe flying a North Star freighter tucked onto my left wing tip,
and all I could see was two hugh merlin engines spinning by my left ear and Moe
stretched across his co-pilot's shoulder grinning like a kid.
The second story about Moe took place in the 1990's - 6 - 7 years ago.
Moe was due for an instrument check ride and it was to be done in a Lear jet. It was
a beautiful Sunday afternoon and he decided to do a couple of practise ils's and adf's
at the Hamilton airport. Moe being Moe filled all the seats with friends and kids that he
though would like a ride in a jet. He very quickly finished the practising and decided to
do a low and over at the Guelph Airpark. Moe was famous for his low and overs.
On this particular Lear jet, the limiting airspeed is 305 knots indicated at which time
the over speed warning is activated. As we descended for Guelph, Moe had the old
Lear jet just ahumming and the over speed warning was just a screeching and above all
this all you could hear from Moe was ab-daba-doo!
We streaked down the runway about 3 feet off the ground, the airspeed indicated well
over 420 knots. He gently pulled it up into a vertical climb and by the time he rolled the
aircraft level, we had just passed though 12,000 feet. It seemed like only 4 or 5 seconds, but what a ride!!!!!

August 2, 2000, said,

Air France Concorde near Charles de Gaulle Airport last week, full marks to

friend…flew to Toronto at the weekend to get to Lexington, Kentucky, my wife,
Camilla, was transported to Montreal last Tuesday and back today with maximum
efficiency. Bravo."
