. John Rodger sends us his bio -
My wife Susann and I live west of Dorval Airport on Ile Bizard.
After three years in the RCAF I started at TCA July 3rd 1956
as a learner 4 mech in hanger 4 on the Super Connies I stayed with them
until they were retired from service. I then worked in line maint. and ramp
maint. on DC8s, Vicounts, Vanguards, DC9s. After I got married I went to
work in Dc8 and DC9 overhaul and c checks.  In 1974 I transferred to NDT
[xray, eddiecurrent, ultra sonic] becoming a NDT Tech and A/forman until I
retired Jan 1/92. In 1989 I was one of the subjects for a series of
commericals that were used to introduce the airbus called Above and Beyond.
There were three pilots, stew, and mechanic. I also was on the ACRA commitee
as ways and means chair for several years and I ran an AC hockey league
made up of four teams mostly from Dorval base.

. Here we have yet another bio, this one from Owen Fitzgerald -
I started my career with AC in November 1966 at Purchasing & Stores, Malton.
I spent five years in Stores and decided to transfer to Reservations,
130 Bloor Street, Toronto as a Passenger Agent.  After 5 years "on the floor"
as they call it in Res, I requested a transfer to Vancouver (where my family
lived). I spent 2 years overlooking the beautiful Stanley Park watching float
planes coming and going, while working on Hastings Street in Res. Returned to
Toronto - first to Res in Bloor Street and then transferred to Pearson Int. as
a C&SS agent. I found this leg of my career the most interesting and
challenging, working at first with general check-in and departures, and then
specializing in Charter set up and handling (I'm sure Brian Dunn who worked
the same charters on the opposite cycle can attest to the working relationship
and job satisfaction we had with the various wholesalers and farm workers'
charters).  I then worked in Manpower Planning with George Baker and Lloyd
Morrison (both supervisors at that time).  During this time I did many acting
assignments (not on stage!), holiday relief, etc. and became permanent
Supervisor in 1990.  During one of the "reoganizations" I was assigned to
Baggage Supervisor B Cycle and further enhanced my working knowledge of
another aspect of the airline.  Unfortunately, due to some health problems in
1992, I was off duty for 4 months and upon my return elected to take early
retirement when a package was offered.  My leisure pastimes are collecting Air
Canada pins (no one at the Airport was safe when I was around if they were
wearing a pin) and desk top models of our fleet in the older AC colours.
My most recent acquisition is paper memorabilia (two tickets issued on Trans-
Canada Airline Stock on May 5, 1959 from YYZ-BDA-PIK-NYC-YYZ - with the
Airport Service Charge of 7 Shillings & Six Pence) and a 1953 ticket showing
the fare of $76.50 from BDA-YYZ (o/w).  I also collect old baggage tags from
defunct airlines, ....Nordair, Ontario World Air etc.  As I have 28 years of
memories, I'll save them for future issues.

. Smilies.
A couple more from Jenn Callum -

As we waited just off the runway for another airliner to cross in front of
us, some of the passengers were beginning to retrieve luggage from the
overhead bins. The head steward announced on the intercom, "This aircraft
is equipped with a video surveillance system
that monitors the cabin during taxiing. Any passengers not remaining in
their seats until the aircraft comes to a full and complete stop at the
gate will be strip-searched as they leave the aircraft.

As the plane landed and was coming to a stop at Washington National, a lone
voice comes over the loudspeaker: "Whoa, big fella... WHOA

Here are a few heard from Northwest: "Should the cabin lose pressure,
oxygen masks will drop from the overhead area. Please place the bag over
your own mouth and nose before assisting children or adults acting like
children."
