George Brien sends us this tidbit - As I had an identical twin also working for TCA/AC in the Maritimes, many funny incidents happened over the years. My favorite was when my 8 year old granddaughter and her mother left YHZ , and I saw them onto the plane. When the plane arrived at YFC, my twin brother walked out to the acft and my granddaughter said "grampy- how did you get here so fast????" By the time she entered the terminal, she realized her mistake and said "Boy- I really made a fool of myself!!" Don Demeza, who recently joined our readership,sends us this memory - Briefly, my TCA career began as a radio operator in 1946, in the days of Al Loke and Don Murphy. During the 50's I was Steve Himmelman's administrator at Toronto Station. The 60's in Communications H.Q.with Cammy Campbell et al. The new organization in the 70's put me in C&SS Planning Division with Anne Bodnarchuck. I retired in 1983 and worked as a consultant until 1990 when I moved to Belleville. I'm an active ham, VE3AZV and keep in touch when I can with the other hams from the airline. I enjoy sailing and spent Christmas on a boat in the Bahamas. Also ski but am nursing a leg after last week-end at Mont Tremblant. My Summer hobbies are radio control model aircraft and similar model sailboats. Found on the Internet - TWA/TRANSAERO: LOOK WHO'S TALKING Trans World Airlines and Russia's number two carrier, Transaero, are talking about at least a code-sharing arrangement, and maybe more. According to TWA, the carriers have only discussed code-sharing arrangements. But Transaero and its New Jersey-based investment firm, Strategic Capital Group, say they have offered to "take control" of the troubled carrier. SWINGING PAX NOT FLYING NORTHWEST AGAIN: Remember the would-be Northwest Airlines passenger who assaulted a pilot when the crew member asked him to wait for a gate attendant? Well, Northwest sent a letter to the man, who may face federal prosecution, telling him he would no longer be welcome on Northwest flights and that they would advise other carriers of his behavior. BUTT, BUTT...: No-smoking policies aboard airliners claimed another victim last week when a passenger on an American Airlines flight from Madrid to Miami couldn't take it any longer. Instead, Sally Ann Stein, 57, an American living in Seville, Spain, claimed to be a terrorist and threatened to blow up the airplane when she wasn't allowed to smoke.
