About us!
Since October 1995, Vesta Stevenson and Terry Baker have been issuing an email newsletter for those ex Air Canada types who have provided us with their email addresses. The Newsletter was created by Vesta, who gave the name 'NetLetter' and added 'Between Ourselves' - a TCA periodical with which you are probably familiar with from the 50's and 60's. It was then changed to "Between Yourselves" to avoid confusion when "Horizons" resurrected the name. Then finally simplified to just "The NetLetter".
We believe that our NetLetter, which originates from Vancouver Island, was the FIRST to use this medium to disperse information for retirees of Air Canada.
The NetLetter contains airline related information such as anecdotes or stories supplied by some of the recipients, Internet tips, travel news, cheap... excuse me, "inexpensive" accommodations, tours, interline travel, and, in some small way, we help keep our Air Canada family together and in touch.
Our 'NetLetter' is NOT sponsored by any Pionair group, nor are we seeking any financial support, only the Internet email addresses of those who would like to receive our 'NetLetter'. Please forward this to other retirees who can then subscribe right from the forwarded link at the bottom of this email.

Dear NetLetter,
We apologize for the long delay in getting the NetLetter out to all our faithful readers. This was because I was away on vacation in China with little Internet connectivity. We hope that some of our readers read the NetLetter at the ACFamily Nedtwork site where it was posted.

We now estimate that the NetLetter is read by over 2711 retirees when counting our email distribution and those that print the NetLetter and give them out to their friends.

Portal tip - each 'tab' has a function. Information on the Portal ( http://acaeronet.aircanada.ca) has been grouped into five broad categories (My News, My Work, My Life, My Toolbox, My HR). For your convenience, the Portal has been designed so each category is displayed as a tab on the top of each page. Access to the different tabs depends on your needs. For example, the 'My Toolbox' tab provides access to e-mail and Calendar (if applicable) as well as a Tools list which includes links to corporate and branch-specific applications. Retirees have access to 'My Life' for personal information, but won't see the 'My Work' tab as it contains only work-related documents. Also, at this time the 'My HR' tab is only available to employees based in North America - as the Portal continues to evolve, this function and many others will be added on a progressive basis. No matter where you are on the ACaeronet, you can always return to the top of each main category by clicking on the applicable tab.

IVR / Speech Recognition - If you do not have access to the website, please use Speech Recognition at 1-888-834-6660. A default credit card must be on your Travel profile prior to using the IVR option.
PIN access to the Employee Travel Website - To reset your PIN, please contact 1-800-413- 1113 OAL Bookings for Personal Travel - ZED tickets are available online at www.travel.aircanada.ca. Tickets may be picked up at your local Air Canada counter or Mailed or Couriered to you.
ID50, ID90 - Contact the Employee Call Centre at 1-800-413- 1113. Allow 4 days for processing, pick up and pay for tickets at any Air Canada ticket counter.

Subject: A Long Flight/ Keep this plane in Canada I was a purser on the Super Connie and i am sure worked on this aircraft many times on the North Atlantic run. Every time I drive past the plane on Derry Road I get quite a feeling of nostalgia. It was a magnificent plane to work, although every time when the superchargers went from low to high there was always a twinge of weightlessness, which was not pleasant. As I recall, later when two engines were changed at a time (instead of all four together) it was not so noticeable. We served two hot meals to the passengers travelling from Montreal to London and because of the length of the flight we had time to wash the dishes to have them ready for the second meal. I've written a number of stories about my experiences on this plane. (We will print to story in the next NetLetter - eds)

All Vancouver Island Chapter CAHS members and friends; Notice, the meeting (was held) on March 8, 2006, 1:00 pm in the Norseman Room at the BC Aviation Museum, 1910 Norseman Road, Sidney. A short business meeting was followed by 2 guest speakers.
Michael J.B. Smith; recently retired Victoria Airport employee, Mike brings many enjoyable and amusing aviation tales from his 25 years in Victoria and prior airport employment experience at Terrace, BC and Yellowknife, NWT. Mike will show archival aerial shots of the growing Victoria Airport, from "farm to international airport" (1928 to now).
Ian C. Watson; CAHS National member and Kingston and Ottawa Chapter member, will tell (told) some of the story, that he is currently researching, of Ernest Lloyd Janney, "aviation pioneer and con man", and his part in early Canadian aviation history.
Everyone is (was) welcome to the meeting and anyone interested can meet for lunch prior to the meeting, at Mary's Bleue Moon; 11:30 am. Contact Stoney Jackson (250--478-7567) or myself (250-544- 2183) to have a chair reserved.
